Borough streets and lake communities in Rockaway
Two municipalities share the Rockaway name. The borough was carved out of the township in 1894, and the township still surrounds it. Rockaway Township lists White Meadow Lake, Lake Telemark, Hibernia and Mount Hope among its communities.
The lake communities are where most of the wood burning happens. White Meadow Lake and Lake Telemark are wooded, hilly neighbourhoods where a fireplace or stove is part of everyday winter life. Chimneys there face the same pressures as any lake-country chimney: overhanging trees, damp shade and animals looking for shelter.
Closer to the borough the houses are older and nearer together, and chimneys are more likely to serve a heating appliance as well as a fireplace. Whichever side of the line you live on, the sweep is matched to the flue in front of us.
